What Is PLA Film?

This 100% compostable material is a thin film produced from corn. When applied to any type of cardboard, recycled or not, in thicknesses ranging from 8pts to 32pts, it creates a barrier against grease, oils, and even odors.

Approved for food contact, freezer and microwave use, this film is a must-have for a greener future.

When applied to cardboard, and then shaped to make a tray or container, it's easy to reduce the use of waxed cardboard and polystyrene in grocery stores and large restaurants, which are neither compostable nor recyclable, and therefore harmful to our environment.

"Everything comes from the earth and everything returns to it".

-Menander

This film can also be used for cosmetic packaging. For example, for a soap bar box. Instead of printing the box on poly-coated cardboard (coated with wax to protect against oil), it's possible to print on regular (or recycled) cardboard and then apply our film to create the barrier against oils and odors.

PLA is also used as a barrier for food packaging, such as boxes of pies, maple fudge or frozen English muffins. The barrier can also be used to make freshness last: for a box of crackers, once the bag has been opened inside, the crackers stay fresh even longer. Tests have been carried out and approved by our customers.

The savings you make on cardboard can be reinvested in PLA lamination. Food preservation is extended. What's more, you save time on receiving material: we have a large inventory of PLA film, no minimum quantity is required for production and, most important of all, you make an eco-friendly gesture by choosing PLA.

Demand is constantly growing. Since 2010, we've laminated over 8 million sheets with this film.
